Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 31% of Lamar County's school district student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 827 African American students enrolled in Lamar County school district in the 2022-23 school year, 4.7% more than the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Data showed that Lamar County school district welcomed 2,670 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 31% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the county's school district.

This is the only school district located within Lamar County, with its main office in Barnesville.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
