Higher student enrollment in Pike County School District, differing from the state's trend

The only school district in Pike County had rising enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 3,482 students in the halls of Pike County School District, 1.9% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Pike County bucked the state's trend compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 88% of the Pike County School District's total enrollment.

Pike County School District has a main office in Zebulon and is the only school district within Pike County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
