Spot

Shane Archibald, a cybersecurity instructor, enrolled in MGA’s Doctor of Science in Information Technology to further his teaching and consulting career.

Full Name: Shane Archibald.

Hometown & Residence: Snellville.

Employment/Career Highlights: Gwinnett Technical College (cybersecurity instructor with the Computer Information Sciences Division) and Middle Georgia State University (adjunct instructor, Department of Information Technology.)

Degree Objective: Doctor of Science in Information Technology.

Other Degrees: Master of Science in Information Technology (Kennesaw State University); Bachelor of Business Administration (Devry University); Associate of Science in Business Administration (Gordon State College); Associate of Science in Information Security and Networking (Gwinnett Technical College).

He chose Middle Georgia State University for graduate school because … This University had exactly the program I sought in order to build on the master’s degree I obtained years ago. Plus, it is a state school and this program is conducted online, which helps with my work schedule. I am confident the Doctor of Science and Information Technology will take my career to the next level and open doors.

His greatest experience as a Middle Georgia State graduate student has been … “My relationships with my fellow doctoral students. I learn a lot as I interact with them in the classes. Also, I realize that I am part of an exceptional group in which we all have a common goal regardless of the person’s background. The doctoral program is a journey and a process in which I continuously keep growing and learning.”

To him, greatness means … “The ability to influence and change people’s lives for the better.  Also, to continuously stay humble but still work for achievements and successes.”

In five years … “I hope to become an IT professor at a four-year university, publish articles, own a consulting firm, and serve on some industry boards.”
