After my graduation from MGA, I plan to enroll in the new Master of Business in Professional Leadership.

Class Rank: Senior.

Primary Campus: Cochran/Online.

Activities: Pitcher for the MGA softball team and member of Baptist Collegiate Ministries.

Career Goals: “I’m still somewhat undecided about my specific career goals but I aspire to work in a career field that allows for me to interact with and help people. With the degree that I am obtaining and the master’s that I am planning on pursuing, the career opportunities are endless. I plan on finding my career through following my passion for people.”

She chose Middle Georgia State University because … “There were many factors. I transferred to Middle Georgia State University from Georgia Military College, where I also played softball. I was offered a position on the softball team coming into fall 2021. That was a major component. I also was very intrigued by the School of Business at MGA. I had previously earned an associate’s degree in business administration from GMC and I wanted to continue on the business path to further my degree.

“When I was reviewing my transfer options, I had about three options: stay in the city I was in and continue my academics, go back home to North Georgia to finish my degree, or go further south to MGA. I wanted to take advantage of an opportunity to meet all kinds of people from backgrounds different from myself, and I believe that I have done that. I believe that by being further away from home, I am actively maturing and developing my character into the adult that I want to be.”

The greatest thing she discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “The importance of having people by your side throughout college. The people that surround you during your college experience will determine the quality of it. I have been blessed to be on a team that is extremely close and consistently brightens my day. It has truly enriched my college experience. It’s all about finding your niche and having people by your side.”

Her greatest academic experience as a Middle Georgia State student has been … “Keeping a high GPA and maintaining my position on the President’s List every semester. These achievements may not seem like much in terms of awards and accreditations, but I view them as a reward for my hard work. Being a student-athlete, my academics always come first. So, to still earn good grades and obtain that recognition on the President’s List continuously is one of my greatest achievements.”

To her, greatness means … “To me, greatness is subjective to an individual. One person’s definition of greatness can greatly differ from another person’s definition. My definition of greatness is more fluid than some of my peers. I have found that it is more beneficial for me to measure my goals in many different ways, not just in levels of success. Being successful is awesome, but greatness can be so much more. Greatness for me is achieving my goals for academics or athletics, but is also valued through how I interact with people. I measure my greatness in how I treat other people. Greatness is defined not only through the achievements of a person, but the quality of their character and I hope to embody that and that people see that value through my actions.”

In five years … “I will have graduated with my bachelor’s and earned the Master of Business in Professional Leadership. In 2023 I will also complete my last year playing softball for MGA, which has proven to be a critical part of my time here as a student. If all goes as planned, in five years I will be working in a career that I love, that brings me joy, and that allows me to positively impact the people around me. Even though my plan is not set in stone, I know that, in five years, everything will be as it should.”
