Windsor Academy issued the following announcement on Feb. 18.
The elementary classes at Windsor Academy are starting a garden program to engage the students in growing their own food for the lunchroom. Through our school garden program, our students will connect with nature, learn about Georgia’s agriculture, develop science skills, and learn the value of growing their own food. Each grade level will have their own garden box to take care of and their own variety of vegetable or fruit. They will be in charge of planting, watering, pulling weeds, nurturing, and harvesting their food. They then will get the pleasure of taking it to the lunchroom for our staff to cook and serve their harvest for lunch. We want to say a special thank you to Bibb County Farm Bureau for donating money to our program so that we are able to get started with this amazing project that will enrich the knowledge of agriculture to our students!
