The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to the laboratory at Atrium Health Navicent Peach based on results of a recent on-site inspection conducted by CAP inspectors.

The laboratory at Atrium Health Navicent Peach is now one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

“Atrium Health Navicent Peach is proud to provide high-quality care and laboratory services close to home for residents of Houston, Peach and surrounding counties,” said Atrium Health Navicent Peach CEO Laura Gentry. “We are committed to maintaining laboratory quality to provide safe, reliable services for our patients and area physicians.”

The U.S. government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process — designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients — inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs and records, and overall management.

“Atrium Health Navicent Peach demonstrates leadership, innovation and a passionate commitment to standards of excellence while providing the highest quality services, ultimately for patients,” said Dr. Richard M. Scanlan, chair of the CAP’s Council on Accreditation. “The CAP congratulates Atrium Health Navicent Peach on its recent CAP Accreditation.”
