Members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department Dive Team and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources have located the body of 22-year-old Jaivon Whitest.

At around 11:24 a.m. Jaivon Whitest was recovered from the Ocmulgee River. The family has been notified. The circumstances surrounding the case are still under investigation.

Update on Possible Drowning Incident at Frank Amerson Park Ocmulgee River

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department will continue the search for the missing swimmer on Monday February 27, 2023.

The Frank Amerson Water Park will open back up to the public on Monday February 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with limited access to the park. The public is asked to remain out of any controlled access area of the park.

Possible Drowning Incident at Frank Amerson Park Ocmulgee River

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources responded to the park to assist with an investigation of a possible drowning incident just after 4:42 p.m.

Witnesses reported three men came to the park and decided to swim. The three men swam against the current to an area where the rocks were visible above water. When two of the men made it to the rocks, they noticed the third man was struggling against the current. The two men attempted to help the third man but lost sight of him. 911 was called and Emergency Personnel arrived on scene to search for the third male.

The dive teams stopped the search at around 7:30 p.m. The search will continue on Thursday morning. The names of the three men will not be released at this time.
