FOIA Request Sent to Macon-Bibb County Pension Plan Regarding 2023 Pension Roster on September 20, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Macon-Bibb County Pension Plan regarding their 2023 pension roster on September 20, 2024. The request was made by us at Macon Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We are seeking records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., specifically requesting a list of all active and retired employees in the organization's pension fund for the year of 2023. The requested data fields include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year, process date, last disbursement amount, disbursement frequency and the contribution amount for 2023.

As a media outlet committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have requested a fee waiver as part of this process due to our role as a media professional disseminating information to the public.

We await response from the Macon-Bibb County Pension Plan and will continue our work in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
