The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Pio Nono Avenue at its intersection with Rocky Creek Road. The accident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center just before 12:30 a.m.
It was reported that a Mercedes SUV and a Nissan Versa collided at the intersection. Witnesses reported that the Mercedes was traveling southbound on Pio Nono Avenue when the Nissan crossed the intersection and collided with the Mercedes. The male passenger of the Nissan, later identified as 33-year-old Anthony Hill of Macon, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley. The next of kin has been notified.
The female driver of the Nissan was not injured. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This accident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
