Atrium Health Navicent and AmeriCorps Partner to Improve Community Health

Atrium Health Navicent has partnered with One World Link and AmeriCorps Georgia to provide health outreach services in central Georgia while also providing valuable training for individuals interested in social work and health careers.

Ten AmeriCorps members will serve as community health liaisons in conjunction with Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities Care Coordinators. They will assist in providing patient education about preventative health and disease management, connecting with community-based organizations to coordinate resources and supporting the Atrium Health Navicent Food as Medicine Market which provides individuals with food and health information. Efforts will be centered in Baldwin, Bibb and Peach counties.

“Partnering with AmeriCorps will expand the reach of our Healthy Communities teammates as the coordinators help central Georgians live their best lives by improving their health and wellness. We’re excited that this partnership will prepare participants to fill jobs in the high-demand health career field, said Carol Babcock, Atrium Health Navicent assistant vice president for Healthy Communities and Virtual Health. “Thanks to AmeriCorps and One World Link for their partnership in improving our community’s health.”

During the 10-month program, AmeriCorps members will participate in several public health trainings and earn credentials, gain public health job skills and receive a $2,000 monthly stipend and other benefits, if eligible.

“One World Link aims to encourage systemic change throughout the state by training, promoting and using local talent," said Nancy Cleveland, assistant program director for One World Link, an Atlanta-based non-profit organization. "This expansion highlights the work we have accomplished and provides more incentive to our members to further our mission."
