Secretary of State Securities Division Leads Financial Literacy Efforts with "Money Talks" Initiative

Last week, the Secretary of State’s Securities Division continued their efforts empowering Georgians through increased financial literacy and awareness. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s Securities Division kicked off its high school financial literacy and investor education program, Money Talks, at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County.

“In this growing financially complex world, it’s crucial to empower young people with a foundation of financial understanding and capability," said Secretary Raffensperger. "This builds safer communities and helps to improve the financial security of all Georgians.”

Moderated by Atlanta radio personality Art Terrell, panelists Ebony Francis, an Accountant at AvestiCorp, Sileta Bell, President of The Bell Consultants, and Leanne Francis, Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, led insightful and engaging conversations with Shiloh students on practical money skills and how to make wiser financial decisions.

"The Securities Division has a duty to lead proactive outreach to our state's citizens and ensure all Georgians have the tools to be financially secure and pursue their own destinies." said Noula Zaharis, Division Director.

The Secretary of State Securities Division is a leader in improving financial literacy through outreach and education. Earlier this year, the division released the Investor & Financial Literacy Guide, Strategies for Investing Wisely & Avoiding Financial Fraud as a tool to help Georgians navigate the financial uncertainty of a post-pandemic economy.

The Securities Division would like to extend a special thank you to Shiloh High School Principal Dr. Danyel Dollard, Assistant Principal Christina C. Ashley and STEM Academy Lead Teacher Terron Johnson for giving us the opportunity to empower Shiloh students to be financially savvy.
