MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Press Release

Police 04

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office issued the following announcement on May 20.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a tip on May 13, 2022, that Mark Andrew Davis Jr., a registered sex offender, was living and working in Monroe County, Georgia without properly registering as a sex offender with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Violation of the Sex Offender Registry in Georgia is a felony offense.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office conducted a criminal investigation into this matter and worked tirelessly to determine if the tip was true.  The investigation determined that there was sufficient evidence to support that Mr. Davis had been living at a local hotel and working in Monroe County for the past several weeks beginning around April 25, 2022. The investigation also indicated that Mr. Davis had since left the hotel and his whereabouts were unknown.  Based on information discovered during the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Mr. Davis for Violating the Sex Offender Registry.

On May 20, 2022, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received another tip that Mr. Davis was walking in the city of Forsyth near Cabaniss Road and the Interstate 75 on ramp.  Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies responded to the scene and Mr. Davis was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office works hard to ensure the safety of the community. This includes making every effort to ensure that sex offenders who come into Monroe County to live and work are properly registered and monitored.  If you have any information regarding this case or if you would like to report any issue regarding sex offenders, please contact Investigator Chris Landers at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
