Atrium Health Navicent issued the following announcement on May 26.
The Georgia Department of Public Health’s Office of Cardiac Care has designated Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin as a Level III Emergency Cardiac Care Center, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to excellence in emergency cardiac care.
“This designation is a reflection of Atrium Health Navicent’s commitment to provide patients with high-quality health care close to home,” said Atrium Health Navicent President and CEO Delvecchio Finley. “We’re constantly innovating in our drive for excellence, and to improve access for care across central and south Georgia.”
Established in 2017, the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Office of Cardiac Care seeks to improve survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests and heart attacks through quality improvement, benchmarking and guidelines supported by standardized data collection. Hospitals that meet certain criteria are designated as Emergency Cardiac Care Centers.
As part of the process to receive the designation, hospitals must submit heart attack and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest data to the Georgia Cardiac Registry and provide additional data that helps measure performance and provides insight to improve future patient outcomes.
By having a system of Emergency Cardiac Care Centers, local ambulance services are equipped with knowledge to ensure patients receive the proper level of treatment quickly, saving lives, reducing disability and improving quality of life.
“This designation is just another step in our continuing effort to seek out opportunities for improvement and provide the best care for patients in the Milledgeville and Lake Oconee region,” said Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin CEO Todd Dixon. “We are proud of the dedicated work of the hospital administration, nurses and physician leaders, and EMS partners which helped us achieve this designation.”
Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin, a 140-bed acute care facility located at 821 North Cobb Street in Milledgeville, is the only designated Emergency Cardiac Care Center in Baldwin County and the Lake Oconee/ Greene County region. The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services. In the event of a cardiac emergency, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
