COUNTY OF MONROE: Middle Georgia Regional Commission Seeking Applicants for 2022 Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions Program

County of Monroe issued the following announcement on Dec. 10. 

Persons who reside or work in Monroe County who are at least 21 years of age or older are eligible to submit applications to become a member of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission’s (MGRC) 2022 Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions Program.

Applications for the 2022 class will be received by the Middle Georgia Regional Commission and provided to a selection committee for their review, deliberation, and consideration. The 2022 class will then be announced via e-mail and on the MGRC website by Jan. 10, 2022.

The Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions Program consists of seven informative and interactive sessions designed to educate participants about key community issues facing Middle Georgia while imparting relevant leadership skills through adaptive and reflective learning experiences. Beginning in January 2022, the program will be held at the Lake Blackshear Resort and Gold Club, Cordele, GA. Meals and lodging for the retreat are covered by the program.

To successfully complete the Middle Georgia Regional Leadership Champions Program, participants MUST ATTEND ALL OF THE SCHEDULED SESSIONS including the Orientation/Overnight Retreat. Additional hours may be required outside of scheduled sessions to meet program requirements.

Scheduled sessions include: Opening Retreat at Lake Blackshear (1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 28 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 29), Session 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17), Session 2 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 17), Session 3 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 21), Session 4 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19), Session 5 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 16), Session 6 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 18), Session 7 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 15), Session 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20), and Session 9/Commissioning (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 17).

If selected, the tuition for the program is $1,000, payable by Jan. 30, 2022. The tuition includes meals and overnight accommodations for the retreat and meals for the monthly sessions. Limited scholarships are available to reduce tuition costs for eligible participants. Interested applicants should contact Laura Mathis at lmathis@mg-rc.org
