Stratford Academy issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
Beginning Band “Kick-Off” is an exciting evening, and one which Stratford's fifth-grade band students await with great anticipation each fall. This year’s event was certainly no exception. Thursday evening, October 28th, our young musicians not only received their instruments, but they, and their parents, had instructional time with the upper school band students. The older, more experienced musicians taught the young students how to assemble and to care for the instruments, and they demonstrated and taught some of the fundamentals of playing. As a result, the younger students learned their first few notes and were able to play basic songs and exercises that same evening. It was a great experience for the young band students, as well as for the upper school band members. The night was a huge success in the eyes of both the parents and students. We are so excited about our 40-member Fifth Grade Beginning Band!
