Success stairs

Bibb County - GA issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

On Thursday, September 2, ten of our hardworking firefighters were promoted to Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants.

With help from their families, Interim Chief Shane Edwards presented new pins and gear to them during the a ceremony inside the bays of the Fire Department Headquarters.

“It’s beautiful to see our team share this important moment with their families,” said Interim Chief Edwards. “We make this a formal ceremony because it’s special to all of us. The opportunity to stand there and see a wife, a child, or a family member pin them is an honor.”

“It’s my honor and privilege to be here to not only speak to everyone, but to take it all in,” said Mayor Miller, who was able to attend his first ceremony as Mayor. “I don’t think anyone takes this lightly at all. We are so proud of each of the firefighters receiving these promotions.”

Among those promoted was Lieutenant Craig Griffin, who has been with the Fire Department for 14 years. He’s originally from California but calls Macon home.

“It feels great to be promoted. All the hard work and dedication I have for the Fire Department has paid off. This has been a life-long dream of mine,” said Lt. Griffin. “I felt good to have my family here with me and share this very important moment with them.”

Promotions include: Captain Stephen Evans, Captain Brandan James, Lieutenant James Finney, Lieutenant Seth Fuller, Lieutenant Craig Griffin, Lieutenant Kyle Murray, Sergeant Benjamin Dishmond, Sergeant Maurice Houston, Sergeant Keary Jones, and Sergeant Dante Stephens.
