County of Bibb issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
The Office of Small Business Affairs is offering two free virtual classes as part of National Black Business Month. The month is observed to recognize the efforts of Black business owners and their contributions to commerce across the country, as well as provide extra support for the unique challenges they may face. Locally, our community is celebrating these entrepreneurs by encouraging all business owners to learn and grow.
“It’s a complex process with a lot of paperwork to get a business license. Navigating government contracts can be overwhelming,” says Small Business Affairs Director Charise Stephens. “We’re here to let you know you’re not alone! We want to help all our businesses through that process, and teach people how they, and their business, can thrive in Macon-Bibb.”
The first class is at noon on Monday, August 16, 2021. Macon-Bibb County’s Director of Procurement will speak about the application and bidding process for government contracts, and share information on what goods and services the County purchases. A main goal is set realistic expectations for business-owners, and help them understand the process from start to finish.
The second class is at noon on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Truist Bank’s Senior Vice President Scott Seigel will present on Small Business Finances, and what every entrepreneur should know to protect their assets. A main goal of the Small Business Affairs Office is to ensure every business is able to legitimize their funds with a professional checking account.
