COUNTY OF BIBB: Community donates about 1,300 cases of water in Water Challenge

Donation1

County of Bibb issued the following announcement on July 15.

Our community came together on July 13 to make sure no one at the Brookdale Resource Center ever goes thirsty. Mayor Pro Tem Seth Clark and Commissioner Al Tillman challenged everyone to collect cases of bottled water to donate to the Center as it needed bottled water.

“During our last county-wide clean up, the Mayor gave me a tour of the Center and I asked what our biggest need was and he said we’re not only trying to feed the folks healthy, but make sure they drink healthy,” said Commissioner Tillman. “So the idea came as a water challenge.”

Dozens of people drove to the Center to drop off the cases on Tuesday. The donations exceeded the Commissioners’ and Center’s expectations. Some, like Cherokee Brick, had to bring large trucks, as they had pallets filled with cases of bottled water.

“It’s amazing to see how many people donated,” said Mayor Pro Tem Clark. “We’re doing this in the name of coming together and to make sure that the Resource Center has what they need to keep doing what they do.”

The Center received a total of 1,265 cases during the drop-off. If you are interested, you can still donate to the Center. They are always in need of pillows, women and men’s underwear, Visa gift cards, and snacks. You can also sign-up to volunteer here.
