Fort Valley State University instructor Timothy Fletcher donates $197 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Timothy Fletcher, an instructor at Fort Valley State University, donated $197 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $765 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with Fort Valley State University as of November 3. Approximately 67.3 percent, or $515, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Mary Ann Van Hartesveldt's contribution of $318 to Democratic Party Elizabeth Warren was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with Fort Valley State University since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
