OrthoGeorgia Surgery Center was named one of the 2026 Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers by U.S. News & World Report, according to an announcement on Apr. 7. The recognition highlights the center’s performance in patient outcomes and safety for outpatient surgical care.

The designation is significant as it helps patients and their physicians make informed choices about where to receive outpatient surgery based on quality and clinical results. OrthoGeorgia Surgery Center, operating as Macon Outpatient Surgery, was recognized specifically in orthopedics and spine specialties after a national evaluation of more than 4,400 facilities.

U.S. News & World Report partnered with Arcadia to assess centers using risk-adjusted measures such as rates of post-procedural complications, emergency room visits, and unplanned hospitalizations. Only about 21–22% of evaluated centers received a Best Ambulatory Surgery Center or “High Performing” status nationwide.

According to the analysis, top-performing ambulatory surgery centers in orthopedics and spine reported nearly a third fewer complications compared to others, supporting the trend that complex orthopedic procedures can be safely conducted in outpatient settings with patients returning home the same day for recovery.

Lynn Johnson, RN, Director of OrthoGeorgia Surgery Center said: “This recognition reflects our team’s unwavering focus on patient safety, clinical excellence, and delivering outstanding outcomes. We are proud to offer advanced outpatient surgical care that allows our patients to recover at home while receiving the highest level of orthopedic expertise.”

In addition to this recent honor, OrthoGeorgia treated patients from most counties across Georgia in 2025 and performs over 7,000 procedures each year. The center also holds Advanced Orthopaedic Certification from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care for Total Joint Replacements and Complex Spine Procedures.
