Neel’s Lofts celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 462 Cherry Street in downtown Macon on May 28, officially opening its doors to the public. The event was held in partnership with NewTown Macon and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, welcoming community members, local leaders, and prospective residents to view the new luxury loft community.

Developed by H2 Capital and built by Piedmont Construction Group, Neel’s Lofts brings 95 luxury loft residences to downtown Macon. The development also includes an on-site coworking space, two retail spaces, and one restaurant space. NewTown Macon served as a key partner in bringing the project to completion. Residential units are available for immediate move-in, while coworking and commercial spaces are open for lease.

James Fritze, President and CEO of NewTown Macon, said, “Downtown Macon has been on the rise for years, and I think a lot of people are starting to feel it. Neel’s Lofts is the kind of project that gives people a reason to plant roots here. We have been working toward a downtown where people do not just visit, they stay. Today is proof that we are getting there.”

Robbo Hatcher of H2 Capital said he has long believed in the city: “I have believed in this city for a long time, and this project is a reflection of that,” said Hatcher. “We built something here that Macon deserves, a place where people can live well right in the middle of everything they love about this city. Seeing it come to life today makes every bit of the work worth it.” Mark Lumsden from Piedmont Construction Group described building Neel’s Lofts as “a labor of love,” citing challenges unique to new construction in a downtown environment.

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce participated as an event partner; according to the official website, it supports workforce development initiatives and works toward economic vitality across businesses and communities throughout Macon County.

Residential leasing at Neel’s Lofts is now open with tours available; floor plans can be viewed online at neelslofts.com. An official grand opening celebration is planned later this summer.
