MEDIA RELEASE: Fatal Collision on Mercer University Drive Involving a Motorcycle

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision, involving a motorcycle, that occurred on Mercer University Drive at Arlington Park. The collision was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 9:58 a.m., Monday. 

It was reported that a motorcycle was headed east on Mercer University Drive, in the center turning lane, when it collided with a Honda Pilot. The driver of the Honda was making a left turn from Arlington Park, onto Mercer University Drive, when the collision occurred. 

The motorcyclist , 56-year-old John William Vinson III, was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced deceased. According to Coroner Luann Stone, the next of kin has been notified. 

This collision is under investigation.
