The Macon-Bibb County Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) hosted and co-hosted five workshops and panels throughout March, reaching almost 800 participants across the community, according to an April 7 announcement.

These events aimed to give small businesses access to important information, networking opportunities, and resources. OSBA Director Charise Stephens said, “These workshops and panels are about making sure our small businesses have access to the information, connections, and opportunities they need to grow. When we invest in our entrepreneurs, we are investing in the future of Macon-Bibb.”

Among the events was a statewide procurement workshop at Macon Mall attended by more than 230 people. An arena subcontractor discussion drew 124 participants who learned about upcoming bid opportunities. OSBA also held a bilingual Vendor Readiness & Contracting Workshop with 50 attendees. The fifth annual Women’s History Month Business Panel brought together 175 people in person and another 200 viewers online for discussions on leadership, financial literacy, and long-term growth.

Through these efforts, OSBA seeks to support small, local, and minority-owned businesses while strengthening the economy of Macon-Bibb County. The office continues its work by opening doors for entrepreneurs throughout the area.

Looking ahead, OSBA is partnering with STAG Vets Inc. for a free NRCS Technical Assistance Training workshop scheduled for Friday, April 17 at Macon Mall. This hands-on event will offer farmers, ranchers, and veterans training on topics such as raised bed farming, heir property rights, record keeping for business operations in agriculture as well as food preservation techniques.

The broader business community is supported by organizations like the Macon County Chamber of Commerce which focuses on economic development and business support according to its official website. The chamber also works to advance economic vitality and enhance quality of life in Macon County according to its official website. It offers networking opportunities along with advocacy programs designed to foster connections among local businesses according to its official website.
