The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has announced the return of its annual 3-Point and Slam Dunk Contests, presented by BSN Sports, as part of the 2026 GHSA Basketball State Championships. The events are set to highlight basketball talent from across Georgia, with athletes competing for medals and recognition at the Macon Coliseum.

The contests will feature separate divisions for girls, boys, and co-ed teams in the 3-point shooting competition. According to GHSA, each school may enter one participant per division, and all contestants must meet eligibility requirements. Co-ed teams must be composed of students from the same school. Participants will have 90 seconds to shoot from four locations beyond the three-point line, with each rack containing six basketballs. Points are awarded for each basket made, with the final ball on each rack worth three points.

Preliminary rounds for the 3-point contest will take place on February 7 at Lowndes High School, Perry High School, and Dawson County High School starting at 10:00 AM. Eagles Landing High School and Cherokee High School will host additional preliminary rounds on February 8 at 2:00 PM. The top three scorers from each site will move on to semifinals scheduled for February 21 at Perry High School and February 22 at both Eagles Landing and River Ridge high schools.

Finalists will compete in Macon during the state championships: boys’ finals on March 11, girls’ finals on March 12, and co-ed finals on March 13.

Last season’s champions included Reagan Mulligan of River Ridge High School (Girls 3-Point), Alex Whitecliffe & Chase Turner of Cherokee High School (Co-Ed 3-Point), and Sam Mobbs of Trion High School (Slam Dunk).

The Boys Slam Dunk Contest is also returning this year. Each school can nominate one participant who must submit a video—no longer than thirty seconds—of their dunking skills between January 25 and February 7. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube, Instagram or Vimeo and submitted via https://woobox.com/7zgvsv or emailed to marketing@ghsa.net. Props or gimmicks are not allowed; however, one individual may assist the dunker if needed.

Fan voting plays a significant role in determining which contestants advance in the slam dunk competition. Voting for Round One runs from February 9–14; semifinal voting for the top eight dunkers takes place from February 16–21. The championship final is scheduled for March 14 at Macon Coliseum.

All contest sites will be supervised by GHSA representatives throughout the competition process.

Key dates include:
– January 25 – February 7: Slam Dunk entry window
– February 7–8: Preliminary rounds for the 3-point contest
– February 9–14: First round fan voting for slam dunk contest
– February 16–21: Semifinal fan voting for slam dunk contest
– February 21–22: Semifinal rounds for the 3-point contest
– March 11–13: Championship finals for all divisions of the three-point contest
– March 14: Slam Dunk Finals

“Fans vote daily and help determine who advances,” according to GHSA organizers.
