FOIA Request to Gordon State College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, we at Macon Times have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Gordon State College. This request seeks detailed information concerning the presence and academic engagement of Chinese National students at the institution.

Our inquiry specifically requests documents or lists detailing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If student names are protected under privacy laws, we have asked for the total number of such students, broken down by department where possible.

Additionally, we seek records showing the scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. In particular, we are interested in identifying any scholarships linked to the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, our request includes any university policies or procedures that describe how Gordon State College monitors its students—Chinese Nationals included—to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.

This FOIA request is made on behalf of Macon Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media dedicated to gathering and reporting news that holds public institutions accountable, we believe access to these records is vital for ensuring transparency. We have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information crucial for public awareness.
