FOIA Request to Bibb County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024. The request was made by Macon Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request was specifically for records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format. The information sought includes a list of methods used by the department to count votes. If the counting is done manually, the request also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Macon Times believe that access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We are awaiting a response from the Bibb County Election Department and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
