Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrest a suspect in connection with a Commercial Burglary. At 1:04 a.m. Friday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at the Dollar General, at 1444 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.

Deputies arrived and discovered that the business was breached through the rear wall. Boxes of cigarettes could be seen on the floor and the suspect was not at the scene. Upon reviewing the store’s video surveillance, investigators advised deputies that the suspect was observed pushing two yellow shopping carts away from the business. The carts were filled with up to $1000 in merchandise. The merchandise included several boxes of cigarettes, cleaning supplies, and cellphone accessories. The suspect matching the store’s surveillance video was spotted pushing a shopping cart nearby. He fled the area when he saw deputies, but was apprehended while hiding inside of an abandoned vehicle near Hanson and Simmons Street.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Christopher Tyrone Anthony of Macon. Anthony was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and was charged with 1st Degree Burglary. According to investigators, Anthony is connected to several other commercial burglaries. Additional charges are pending.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has any information regarding this case, please contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
