UPDATE: Just after 2:30 a.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a family wanting to report a missing person. Deputies met with the family, and during the course of the investigation  additional  evidence  was obtained.  Deputies were able to confirm the identity of the male. This incident has been determined a suicide.

Death Investigation on Merriwood Drive

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that was reported in the 2000 block of Merriwood Drive just after 8:30 p.m.

Deputies responded to a call of a person down in the roadway. When deputies and emergency services arrived, they found a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound lying in the roadway. The male was pronounced deceased on the scene by the coroner’s office. The next of kin has not been notified. 

This incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
