In the 2024-25 school year, Crawford County Elementary School enrolled 15 Hispanic students, representing a 15.4% increase from the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

The school’s total student body reached 315 for the 2024-25 school year. Hispanic students accounted for 5% of enrollment, making them the second-smallest group at the school.

Crawford County Elementary School is part of the Crawford County School District, with district offices based in Roberta.

Within Crawford County School District’s three schools, the highest number of Hispanic students was at Crawford County High School, where 23 were enrolled in the 2024-25 school year.

Data from the National Center for Education Statistics indicated Georgia public schools had approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students statewide.

Following the pandemic, chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, based on the Georgia Department of Education data. In response, GaDOE introduced a statewide initiative featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, awareness campaigns, and targeted district support to increase school attendance.

In 2025, state legislators approved a bill updating school attendance regulations to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The new law outlines additional reporting requirements and works alongside alternative diploma programs.

By 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio stood at about 14:1, lower than the national average of 15:1.
