County of Upson announces Grand Opening for the Thomaston-Upson Archives and Pettigrew White Stamps House

Over the weekend, there was a joint Grand Opening for the Thomaston-Upson Archives and Pettigrew White Stamps House.  

The “Thomaston Goes to War… on the Homefront” event included food and entertainment of educating attendees on the history of Upson County citizens who served during WWII. Attendees were showed how the textile Mills in the community contributed in the war, explaining how Thomaston’s mills produce more than 25% of the nation’s tire cord!

Jamesan Gramme, the Director at the Thomaston-Upson Archives, stated that the joint Grand Opening was “an overwhelming success, and was so moving to see visitors reminisce when viewing the various stories featured between the two exhibits.” She wants to thank everyone who took their time to come out to this event, as well as all of the volunteers that made the day possible!
