Atrium Health Navicent Peach and the pediatric emergency department at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital have received the 2025 Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award. This recognition is given to departments that show leadership, practice, education, and advocacy resulting in better patient care and improved staff well-being.
Both departments are part of Advocate Health. They join six other hospitals within Advocate Health that currently hold this designation, which lasts for three years. According to Atrium Health Navicent Chief Nurse Executive Tracey Blalock, “Fewer than 100 emergency departments were selected for the Lantern Award this year, which makes achieving this designation extra special. Our nurses and other teammates always go above and beyond with patient care, and it’s wonderful to have that dedication recognized on a national scale.”
The Lantern Awards will be displayed in each hospital’s emergency department. As recipients, these hospitals will also be featured in upcoming Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) publications, on the ENA website, and during Emergency Nursing 2025—the association’s annual conference scheduled for September in New Orleans. ENA President Ryan Oglesby said, “These hospitals demonstrate excellence in practice, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation that make their departments exceptional places for patients receiving care as well as for the staff working in them.”
The ENA was founded in 1970 as a professional nursing association focused on advocacy, education, research, innovation, and leadership in emergency nursing. The organization works to promote patient safety by developing standards of practice and public policy guidance related to emergency health care. More details about this year’s Lantern Award recipients can be found on the Emergency Nurses Association website.
