Asian enrollment at Twiggs Middle School holds steady at 1 student for 2024-25

Reports from the Georgia Department of Education indicate that Twiggs Middle School maintained an enrollment of one Asian student in the 2024-25 school year, consistent with the prior year.

Twiggs Middle School had a total of 137 enrolled students for 2024-25. Asians accounted for 1% of the population, making the group one of the least represented among the school’s ethnic demographics.

The school operates under the Twiggs County School District, which has administrative offices in Jeffersonville.

Out of the three schools within Twiggs County School District, Jeffersonville Elementary School reported the highest number of Asian students for the 2024-25 school year, enrolling 3 students.

The National Center for Education Statistics shows that the student population in Georgia public schools consists of about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students.

Chronic absenteeism continues to affect Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, reported the Georgia Department of Education. GaDOE implemented a statewide approach including a real-time attendance dashboard, a broad public awareness initiative, and specific assistance for districts with high student absences to promote consistent attendance.
