Advocate Health announced on March 23 that it will distribute $200,000 in scholarships to students who are pursuing education in health care and STEM-related fields. The organization will provide forty $5,000 awards to eligible applicants across Illinois, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Georgia.
The initiative aims to support the development of a strong and diverse future workforce by reducing financial barriers for students interested in serving their communities through careers in health care and related sectors. Twenty of the scholarships are available to community members and dependents of Advocate Health teammates, while another twenty are designated for eligible Advocate Health teammates themselves.
“These scholarships help remove financial barriers for students who are passionate about serving their communities and advancing careers in health care and related fields,” said Michelle Smith, vice president of workforce development and career innovation for Advocate Health. Hannah Hernandez, a nursing student at Edgewood University who received a scholarship last year, said: “This scholarship has not only given me the opportunity to continue my education but has also motivated me to work even harder to reach my dreams.”
Eligible applicants must be enrolled at least part-time in a qualifying health-related field with minimum GPA requirements. Preference is given to those demonstrating financial need or participating in Advocate Health workforce programs. Applications must be submitted online by March 31.
Advocate Health is recognized as the third-largest nonprofit integrated health system nationally. It was formed from the combination of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. The system serves nearly six million patients through its operations under several names across multiple states.
